
Mike is a graduate of Winston Churchill High School located in San Antonio, Texas where he was named captain and MVP of the track team his senior year. He received both a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in public administration from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Mike has studied public policy implementation and social work in Lima, Peru and Machu Picchu.
Mike proudly serves in the United States Army Reserve. He attended Basic Training at Ft. Knox, Kentucky where he was named “Honor Graduate” of his graduating class. He attended advanced individual training in Aberdeen, Maryland where he was presented the “Top All Around Student” award. He received his commission through the University of Texas ROTC program. Mike served in Iraq where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his actions. He has completed the Department of Defense’s Public Affairs Qualification Course and has commanded a public affairs detachment located at Ft. Sam Houston. Currently, Mike is a logistics officer in a civil affairs brigade located at Ft. Sam Houston.
